- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Senior Software Engineer - Operation Support System (OSS) Team * Nagios Administrator/Subject Matter Expert for Nagios * Successfully fulfilled requirements come from Management, Monitoring team, and Engineering team to deploy Nagios based on projects specifics requirement, integrate devices into monitoring EMS/NMS, integrating monitoring tools and ticketing system, tune and optimize, tools or escalation process, and troubleshoot any issue related to monitoring tools. * Proposed Nagios as monitoring tools for servers, network devices and web pages replacing current proprietary software, Zyrion Traverse and carried out the initial deployment in 2012 and now deployed and running without any major issues. * Successfully deployed a unified Monitoring Dashboard based on PHP currently used by NOC and Monitoring team. The dashboard integrates several Nagios instances located in several different sites which eliminate the needs to access a different Nagios window thus saving tremendous time and effort for the user. * Managed to monitor all 10,000+ Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) web pages for all primary and secondary schools nationwide every 1 hour in one cycle. We're now working to decrease the checking interval to at least 15 minutes. * Introduced an in-house cost saving reporting solution that caters the requirement by importing Nagios data to data warehouse system every 5 minutes to internal SFTP server. With this workaround, we avoid using expensive reporting tools thus saving company budget. * Roll out automated Whatsapp broadcast system for major incident. Crucial info such as ticket number, users affected, date and time of incident are broadcasted automatically to important stakeholders.
